Meital Zilberman | Tel Aviv University | Israel
Prof. Zilberman holds an appointment of Professor with tenure at the Department of Biomedical Engineering of Tel Aviv University. She received her B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering (Cum Laude) and her M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Materials Engineering from the Technion in Israel. She then continued as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas.
Prof. Zilberman’s research interests are polymeric biomaterials, tissue engineering, biodegradable active implants and controlled drug release. She has published more than 90 peer reviewed articles in the top Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering journals, contributed more than 200 presentations (including invited talks and plenary lectures) and serves on the editorial board of several Biomaterials and Polymeric Materials journals. Her research is funded continuously by highly competitive governmental scientific funding agencies such as the Israel Science Foundation (ISF) and Israel Ministry of Health (MOH) as well as by grants for applied research, such as RAMOT – Horowitz Foundation, Kamin (Israel Ministry of Trade) and Momentum Fund. Among her prizes and award are the prestigious Journal of Wound Care (JWC) first place world innovation award, and the JULUDAN prize, given every year by the Technion to an outstanding researcher, and recognizes outstanding scientific research achievements that shows promise of having valuable technological applications and are channeled to enhance man’s welfare and prolong human life.
